Taken over in early 2007 by James Smythe, we specialise in Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and search engine friendly Web Design. We have also enlisted the help of Anthony to provide IT and Networking Solutions for existing or new clients. We feel this is important as many small firms lack the resources or knowledge to manage computer networks themselves.
This Blog is currently managed by myself, James, and aims to provide useful information and news regarding the Web Design, SEO and IT/Networking world. Though quite often I will go on a tangent regarding other geeky things. We are a relatively small company with 5 members of staff, and we try to be as friendly and flexible as possible with both our clients and staff. During the week if we are not seeing clients we try and work from home when possible or in Anthony’ case on the road fixing computers and networks.
Due to a growing family our web designer, Daniel, spends a few months a year in Spain with his family; though with the power of VOIP, SKYPE and Email he is always contactable. This has led us to try and build up our business in Spain as well, we are currently setting up a satellite office there and hopefully one day we will have a Spanish version of our site.
Currently all our sites are designed in HTML/CSS and ASP where programming is needed, however we are migrating to XHTML/CSS and ASP.net for clients wanting any new sites. We are trying to keep on the ball with technologies and one of the main areas I, James, want to focus on in the next year is improving accessibility to any new site by conforming to the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. All our new sites conform to the first priority of the WCAG guidelines, and we will start making our sites conform to the 2nd Priority as we adapt our skills.
We are also currently developing our own Content Management / Administration system called Dolphin Management which will be used by all new clients to manage their sites. Currently the system can be used for E-Commerce sites, where the user can add and manage as many products as they want, post news items with dynamically generated XML documents for RSS feeds, Invoice Clients/Customers, manage current/past orders and manage registered users. During 2008 we will be adding many more features to the system that will be free for our clients using the system. Dolphin Management has also been developed to allow us to add bespoke applications to it allowing us to develop any function a potential client may need.
One of the functions currently in development is the ability to export the product database in XML or CSV files and in the correct format for services such as Google Base. This will allow our clients to maximise their profits by advertising their products on multiple sites.
