Hi James

I just started a beta run of my new application; it is a Windows desktop client for FreshBooks and I am eager to get opinions on it from a real FreshBooks users. If it happened that you use Windows (Vista is not supported yet) and you find it useful, please email me your thoughts.

Yeah they do, I think all but 1 has used the online function, however I think they do still regard paper invoices as more important.

For me its more handy in case any one tries to say they have not received the invoice or try and dispute it. We both can log on to the system and view whats been invoiced when etc. I add notes and reference numbers of payments (cheque number/ref number etc) which helps keep track of things.

Yep, we hear that loud and clear about the recurring invoices.

Maybe it's just the clients I've done consulting for, but I don't get the feeling they'd be that interested in logging in - they just want a paper invoice.

I guess it's industry-specific - and maybe depends on client-size- do your clients log into Freshbooks much?

Any pointers on what we'd need to implement by way of importing data from freshbooks to make things super-easy?

Heh I may look into it, I don't expect its likely that I would leave Freshbooks at the moment, I don't like to mess my clients around with all my fickle ways. However if the system tracks my expenses well enough I may use it for that and possibly migrate everything over at a later date. Ill sign up for a demo and see what its like.

I have to admit though if you want more influence in persuading UK customers to move from Freshbooks then client logins and recurring invoices would be a must. I can live without Payment Gateways as I wont properly implement Paypal on my Freshbooks system and there are no other UK options.

The only thing I occasionally use PayPal for on Freshbooks is for small transactions like domain purchases etc. It seems like a pain for a client to have to send a cheque out for a tenner.

We are also looking at implementing our own payment system through our Dolphin Managment page so we may not need the Freshbooks solutions anyway.

James - would be interesting to get your feedback on FreeAgent Central.

We don't do all of what Freshbooks does (no client login, payment gateway support - hell, not even recurring invoices yet!) but we do handle expenses, tracking money (via analysis of uploaded bank statements) and even calculating tax.

We're completely UK-specific (at the moment) - hence we can focus on the complete picture. Proper UK VAT invoices and returns calcs, forecasts of your income tax bill etc.

So - what would it take to get you to move across ;->

Freshbooks.com is great, but they're not an accounting app. What do you use to track expenses? Proposal? Mileage?
